Home Telemedicine: A Home Health Care Agency Strategy for Maximizing Resources
American Nursing Care (ANC) conducted retrospective chart reviews to assess the potential of new home telemedicine technology as a way to control health care costs. Using the functionality of the Home Assisted Nursing Care (HANC) network as the home telemedicine system, ANC estimated that 31 % of a selected group of home health care patients and 67% of the patients readmitted to a hospital 30 days after discharge might have benefited from home telemedicine. Such results suggest that home telemedicine may have a significant role to play in managing health care costs.
