Rita H. Laferriere

Julie A. Bigelow

Ann M. Hallett

Home health care paraprofessional services are one of the fastest growing disciplines in the home care industry today. As the need for these services continues to increase, the cost of recruitment, training, and orientation becomes a major concern. It is cost- efficient to ensure that competent paraprofessionals find satisfaction in their work and remain as long-term employees. This article will describe the process used by a Vermont home health care agency to evaluate and sustain the work satisfaction of its paraprofessional staff.

Key Words: home health care, paraprofessional • satisfaction
