Outcomes Research of Home-Visit Nursing Care in Japan

Keiko Ogawa, MSN, RN, PHN

Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University

Since the implementation of long-term care insurance (LTCI) in Japan, home care services have received more national attention. Because the utilization of home-visit nursing is increasing, evaluation of the effectiveness of home-visit nursing care will be needed. Although there are a few outcome research studies of home-visit nursing care in Japan, outcomes research, especially related to the LTCI, will be needed much more in the future. This article shows a framework to easily identify variables that are important to evaluate the effectiveness of home-visit nursing care in Japan.

Key Words: outcome • evaluation • home-visit nursing care • Japan
