Creating Partnerships between Academia and Home Health Care and Hospice Agencies through Continuing Education ProgramsArizona State University The delivery of home health and hospice care continues to grow and expand, outpacing both acute and long-term care services. Nurses working in these settings require case management and problem-solving skills that meet the care needs of the homebound, vulnerable elderly. This article describes a service-oriented research and educational project between the College of Nursing at Arizona State University and seven home health care agencies and hospices to provide an educational format, using CD-ROM technology, for nurses who care for the elderly in the community. Not only were the CD-ROMs viewed as an effective means in which to deliver educational information, but this continuing education project also promoted collaboration and partnerships between academia and the communitybased agencies.
