This article is an instructional guide to obtaining assistance from a state or federal agency when faced with a larger organization or hospital directing patients to its affiliate or its own home care department. It also includes an example of four visiting nurse associations (VNAs) that filed a complaint with the Connecticut Attorney General’s Office regarding a Connecticut hospital directing patients to its own home care department. It describes the process the VNAs followed and the response by the attorney general and the hospital.
