Appalachia: The Place, the People, and Home CareThis article describes the home care services provided by a large integrated health care system and shares some of the unique experiences of the staff in this culturally diverse area of the United States. For those born and reared in this area, this article will provide an opportunity to touch base with those times. The geographic area is described to help the reader visualize the home care service setting and give a better understanding of the people being served. It also reflects on the ancestors who can be credited with defining this long heritage. It is a heritage evident only in glimpses today.
