The Significance of Culture in Caring for Mexican Americans in a Home Health SettingThe patients of nurses and other clinicians represent a variety of distinct cultural backgrounds. Demographic data suggest that the number of Mexican Americans will continue to increase in the United States. Therefore, it will become increasingly important for all health care professionals to learn about the cultural values affecting the health and well-being of these people. Understanding the significance of culture in the treatment of Mexican Americans will enhance the effectiveness of care and improve treatment outcomes. This article describes the significance of culture as an essential concept of nursing and home health care practice.
