Nurse Retention in Home Health Care: Addressing the Revolving DoorAn effective retention plan will be a critical component of a home health care agency's leap into the year 2000. Assessing current turnover and retention rates for your agency, surveying exiting and current staff, identifying the internal factors that lead to turnover, addressing these factors, and measuring the effects of your action plan at regular intervals are all key components of a retention plan. The agency should place as much emphasis on retention as they would on any other business plan, since the shrinking pool of available nurses places a very high premium on retaining current staff.
